Driving in Mexico DF wasn’t really necessary (Alissa Walker Bait?). In my wife’s case, she never learned how to drive. I have been teaching here on/off in the last 8-10 months. She’s getting better :] Haven’t tackled the freeway or parking. Lots of practice is going to make the best hooning buddy :]

lol typical Bimmer parking.... or was it Camry...... or bro trucks? Lol, don’t act like YOU never parked a little off once lol :]

EL Moose is too big for her to drive and park (especially because of its turn radius) This car though is pretty dang good

If you can, get some cones (bought or ‘acquired’) and some tape and set out a course which will also give her more visual clues.

A good one that my exs always wanted me to ingrain into them was hill starts and parking on hills (in manual cars) and how to merge onto motorways (freeways) and general motorway etiquette.

It was nice because some were already exs at the time but still asked me to take them out and learn to drive. In the U.K. we say when we learn to drive we learn to drive to pass our test, once we pass our test that’s when we really learn how to drive. With an instructor or examiner there is always a level of ‘oh 5h1t’ but I liked to do it in a controlled environment and say ‘give it a go’, ‘okay that didn’t go the way you wanted, why didn’t it (if they didn’t know I would gently say why, then we’d do it again) how can we improve it?’. We’d go away and do something else and then go back and do it again. When things get tense, stop straight away and do something else and then come back.

Keep it fun and interesting which sure is the way you do it.

How do you like the Z4? I didn’t like this generation at first, but the styling is growing on me as it ages - and I love those wheels as well. With the proper specs and color combo I think it has the potential to age really well. Surprising how cheap you can find them too these days. Did you compare the 2.5 vs the 3.0 at all? 2.5s are priced nicely but a 3.0si would be perfect. I’ve heard complaints about build quality this being from the NC plant - do you feel there is an actual difference, or is it more a case of reverse placebo with BMW snobs knowing it wasn’t built in Germany?

lol hot damn! Yeah dude brake pads for those are like $5 USD. At any given time, some random dude could be doing a clutch job on the sidewalk using a block of wood to hold the engine up.... all the while just in chanclas (flip flops). And yes, suuuper illegal for you to drive that taxi lol. San Miguel is a super touristy town. A lot of European folk go through there and it’s pretty and calm. They make good machete quesadillas there. Those are basically elongated quesadillas measuring up to 20 inches long lol :]

To experience the driving there is going to leave your mind blown when the same style is multiplied in Mexico DF where it’s multiplied by 25 million!

Even the city buses are manual transmissions lol. Heading on oncoming traffic sometimes to get through. Still, despite the CHAOS!, nobody is texting, nobody is distracted, no accidents hardly ever.

Lol yeah dude, San Miguel might have seen like a roller coaster on the streets driving, but that’s how we drive in Mexico. I can’t wait to you go to a big city like Guadalajara, Mexico DF, Puebla, etc. Absolute motoring madness in an incredibly awesome manor!

My dad at age 12 drove a good sized delivery truck for my grandpas coffee store from Nuevo Progresso to Reynosa through city streets and dirt roads. I drove for the first time ever when I was 10 in a first gen Taurus in Mexico.

Awesome article sir!!!!!!! Will share with as many people as possible!
